Der er snart Eid, (muslimsk hellige dage, for dem der ikke ved et :) ) Vi muslimer holder Eid to gange om året . En gang som afslutning på Ramadan, Eid- Ul- Fitr og en gang som afslutning på pilgrims rejse, Hajj til Mekka, Eid -Ul- Adha. Der er Eid -Ul- Adha vi fejre på kommende Tirsdag.

We will soon be celebrating Eid -Ul- Adha, actually already on Tuesday insh´allah. For those who dont know Eid is a festive muslim holyday. We celebrate Eid twcie a year , Eid - Ul - Fitr after ramadan and Eid - Ul - Adha after the pilgrim journey, Hajj to Makkah.
I have told you about my familys Eid Brunch tradition. One of the dish we have been making for many years is halwa, puri, channe. Puri is a very delcate deep fried thin flat bread, channe is a chickpea curry dish and halwa is a semolina dessert. I often also make aloo bujia, a potato dish. Last Eid insted of Aloo Bhujia, I made Dehi Aloo, potato made in yoghurt. everybody loved them with the puris. I have been wanted to share this delicious creamy recipe with you and since it is Eid again , it was time to do so.
Ingredienser / ingredients
900 gr let kogte kartofler/ 900 gr half boiled potatoes
4 spsk vegetabilsk olie / 4 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsk let stødt koriander frø / 1 tsp lightly crushed coriander seeds (sabuth dhaniya)
1 tsk spidskommen frø / 1 tsp cumin seeds (zeera)
1 tsk senneps frø / tsp brown mustard seeds (rai)
½ tsk frisk fin revet ingefær / ½ tsp finely grated fresh ginger
½ tsk gurkemeje / ½ tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsk rød chili pulver / 1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsk salt / 1 tsp slat
½ tsk garam masala / ½ tsp garam masala
evt 4 frisk rød+ grøn chili, fint hakket / 3 -4 fresh red + green chili, finelly chopped
200 ml natural yoghurt / 200 ml yoghurt
80 ml vand / 80 ml water
2 spsk mandel mel / 2 tbs almond miel (flour)
1. Skær kartoflerne i mundbidder eller terninger. Kartoflerne må ikke være færdig kogte.
Varm olien i en gryde, kom koriander og sennepsfrø, rist dem 1 minut før spidskommen tilsættes. Efter ½ minut, skrue ned til middle varm, tilsæt ingefær og resten af krydderierne undtagen garam masala. Tillsæt også de friske chili´er. Steg 2 minut.
2. Tilsæt kartoflerne og steg dem 4- 5 minut.
3. Pisk vand og yoghurt, mandelmel sammen i en lille skål.
4. Hæld yoghurt blanding over kartoflerne Skrue ned for armen til lav varme. Rør forsigtig rundt. Lad det hele stå og simrer under låg få minutter til saucen har tyknet og kartoflerne er møre. Drys med garam masala.
De her Dehi Aloo er rigtig lækker til chapati/ roti eller oven på et stk godt brød. Mums .......... vi ses snart.

1. Cut the boiled potatoes in bitesizes. The potato should´nt be finsihed boiled ( cook through). heat the oil in a pot, add mustard seeds and coriander seed, fry for 1 minut before adding the cumin seeds. Lower the heat add ginger and all the spices except the garam masala. Also add the chili. fry for 2 minuts.
2. Add the potatoes and cook them for 4- 5 minuts on medium heat.
3. Whip together water, yoghurt and almond miel with a fork in a little bowl.
4. Pour the yoghurt mixture over the potatoes, Stir, then lower the heat to low and put a lid on the pot an let simmer for some minut until the potaoes are cooked and the gravy is thick almost dried. Sprinkle with garam masala before serving.
These Dehi Aloo are super delicious with roti/chapati or on a slice of good bread. Yum , enjoy........ see you soon.
