Dadel Snegle / Date Roll Buns


 Har I lyst til et par lækker dadel snegle denne regnvejr Søndag? Lidt store og rustikke, men er super lækker. Den orginelle opskrift er inspireret er kanel snegle opskrift. Fuldet er min egen opskrift. 
Anybody feeling for a deilcious date roll buns this rainy Sunday? Chunky and rustic, but very yummy. This recipe is inspired from a cinnamon rollbons recipe I have. The filling recipe is my own. 


Dejen/ The dough

500 gr mel / 500 gr flour
2 spsk sukker / 2 tbsp sugar
100 gr smør, smeltet / 100 gr butter melted
3 tsk bagepulver / 3 tsp baking powder
en knisp salt / pinch of salt
2 ægge blommer / 2 egg yolks
200 - 220 ml mælk / 200 - 220 ml milk
revet skal af 1 økologisk citron / grated zest from one organic lemon
list ekstra smeltet smør til pensling/ extra melted butter for brushing.

Fyldet/ The filling

12 mellemstore dadler/ 12 medium sized dates
55 gr brun farin / 55 gr brown sugar
1 spsk sukker / 1 tbsp sugar
1 tsk stødt kanel / 1 tsp cinnamon
lidt frisk revet muskat nød / little freshly grated nutmeg
1 spsk smeltet smør / 1 tbsp melted butter
evt 50 gr chokolade knapper / optional 50 gr chocolate chips

Glasur/ The glaze

200 gr sigtet flormelis/ 200 gr sifted confectioners sugar
½ tsk vaniljesukker / 1 tsp vanila sugar
1 spsk kogende vand / 1 tbsp boiling water.


1.  Fjern stenene fra dadlerne og læg dadlerne i blød i kogende vand ca 1 time. Dræn dem så  for vandet og mos kødet med en gaffel. Læg til siden.

2.  For at lave dejen bland mel, bagepulver, sukker og salt sammen. Stil til side. Pisk let æggeblommer, mælk, smeltet smør sammen. Tilsæt revet citron skal og kom det i mel blanding og lave en blød dej. Æltes let på et melet bord.
3. Rul dejen ud til ca 30 X 25 cm firkant.

4. Gør fyldet klar, ved at bland sukker, farin, dadle kødet, kanel og smør sammen.
5. Smør fyldet på den udrullede dej, drys med chokolade knapper og lidt revet muskat nød oven på. Rul dejen stram  sammen som en roulade. Skær til 8 snegle. 
6. Bage den enten på en bageplade eller en en firkantet fad. Jeg bagte den i så tærteforme.
7. Pensel med list smeltet smør.
8. Bages i ca 30 minutter i 180 gr forvarmet ovn. Til de gyldne. 
9. Bland alle indgredienser til glasur sammen. Hæld glasuret over sneglene. 


1. Remove the pits from the dates. And soak the dates in boiling water for an hour or so. Drain the water and mash the date pulp with a fork. Put aside.

2. To make the dough mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. Whip egg yolks with milk and the melted butter, Add the grated lemon zest. Add this mixture into the flour mixture an make a soft dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface.
3. Roll out  the dough into a 30 X 20 cm sqaure. 

4. To make the filling by mix in the date pulp with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and the melted butter.
5. Apply the filling on the rolled out dough, sprinkle with chocolate chips and grated nutmeg.  Now roll together the dough from one end to the other like a roulade. Cut in to 8 pieces.
6. Put the roll buns on a baking sheet lines with baking papper or a little suqaire buttered baking dish.
7. Brush them with some melted butter.
8. Bake them 30 minuts or so in 180 degree Celcius preheated oven, until they are golden in colour.
9. Mix all the ingredients for th glaze well. And pour it over the buns.
