English:
Hellooo friends, I am back from hollidays and a long vacation form the blog. I did´nt get to wish you a happy vacation, I hope you have had a wonderful summer vacation like us. This summer we went for a trip to Madrid, what a beautiful city AND there is no shortage of eating places, all you have is to choose one. We had found some halah resturants on google, We also found many places servering seafood and veggie dishes when we were not able to find a halal place in the area we were visiting.
Luckly for us Madrid loves fish just as much as we do. Some of these restarant we just found when we were walking around. My food experience from this trip is, that you could taste how importent season fresh and good quality ingredients are for the madrilians.
As it is a traditon I will share few of our best foodie moments. I have devided this post in to parts the first one is about food and the second one is about tea, coffe and dessert places.
Wich we found on our first day on our walking trip in Las Huertas. You can say we choose this rerstaurant because there was hanging an english menu in the window. The little restaurant we went in to first was closing, therefor we were showen to Belesar just next door, wich also had the same menu hanging on the window. We were happily suprized by the fun and different restaurant decor, like the hats on the celing.
We had seen on the menu that there were seafood and veggie tapas available. We choose chili and garlic prawns and Pimientos de pedron, a veggie tapas wich our guide book recomended. Pimientos de pedron are small spanish peppers fried in oil and afterward sprinkled with salt flakes. And I can tell you the guide books did´nt lie, you have to try ths tappas if you ever wisit Madrid. Because of a misunderstsanding we were also brought a whole fried fish wich also was very juicy and tasty.
Beside the Pimientos de pedron, our favorite was this baked scallop and cod gratin in a shell.
San Miguel Marked.
San Miguel Market. Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza de san Migulel.
Mercado de san Miguel can not be missed wisiting Madrid. It is a historical Market and is seated in a beautiful iron and glas building.
You can say the market is kind of food court concept. From the small shops you buy food or tapas made from seasonal ingredients either to take them home or to enjoy them on the tables placed in the center of this big hall.
There is so much to choose from, sea food tapas and other kind, fresh juices, stuffed olives, desserts.
Forskellig slags yoghurt .
Different kinds of yoghurt.
Here at the market we tried 3 kinds of sea food tapas on toasts, one with salmon and sennep, one with cod and honny and mine favorite toast with prawns and dild sauce.
From the out side the place looks like a regular kebab and schwarma house, inside is a little cosy restaurant wich serves lebanese and marrocan food. The food is not expensive yet full of flavour and delicious.
My daughter orderd a durum schwarma (roll) and tabuleh. Very quickly she jugded : delicious tabuleh and one of the best durum schawarma she had tasted.
I had veggie sambusa (a kind of libanesen samosa) for starters and a chicken maklube as main dish. Maklube is a rice dish wiht meat and veggie. The sambusas were good, but the maklube was super tasty and yum. Do wisit this small place if you are in Madrid.
We also tried a lot of other international restaurants like a chinese vegetarian restaurant, japanese, indian. One of the beautiful restaurants was Al Mounia, a marrocan restaurant. We loved the interior decoration, beautiful tiles from floor to almost top.
Some of the tea rooms and cakerys we had planned to wisit were unfortunely closed due to vacation like La Mallorquina.
Luckly we found others. This gorgeous tea room and tea shop we found walking around Calle de las Huertas. Big tea and delicious Ice tea selctions, dessert and a tea shop. This tea room became our favorite also because of the interior and the very good and pleasent service.
Chocolateria San Gines, Pasadizo San Gines 5.
Chocolateria San Gines, Pasadizo San Gines 5
This famous café was mentioned in our guide book. The café dates back to 1894 and theier is churros served just like 1894 with a cup og melted hot chocolate to dip them in. The guide book promised us the best churros in the town an need I say we were not dissapointed.
Also mentioned in our guide book, we choose it because it had beautiful view of the royal Palace and Plaza de Oriente..
IA.
