Eid, Rainbow cake push pops

Rainbow cake pushpops



I Tirsdags var det Eid, muslimsk helligdag. Min forældre står for at holde Eid´en hvert år, men vi bidrager alle sammen med en ret hver. Der er altid morgenmad eller brunch efter bøn i mosken og til aftensmad er der buffet. I år havde de store børn/unge ikke fri fra deres gymnasier/universiteter, derfor valgte vi at lave en lille morgenmad. Det blev jo en meget sent og meget stille morgenmad pga af den tragiske hændelse udenfor mosken. Endnu en grund til at huske om Ramadanens betydning for os muslimer og for at være taknemmelig for at være sammen med vores kære.
Vi har i min familie tradition for de sidste par 10 år lave halwa ( semoline dessert) og puri ( fritur stegt sprød fladbrød) og chana masalah ( kikærte gryde ret). Halwa poori er fest morgenmad og serveres traditonalt sammen med chana masalah. Billedet længere nede.

This Tuesday we celebrated Eid ul Fitr, muslim holliday. We always get toghether at my parents every year for breakfast and dinner. After Eid prayer in the mosque, we have halwa puri for breakfast. Halwa puri is  feast meal. Halwa is a sweet dish made of semolina and puri is a crispy deep fried flatbread and is traditonally served with chana masalah, spicy chickpeas. This breakfast was a very quit one, because of a tragic incident out side the mosque. Yet an nnother reason to remeber the meaning of Ramadan for us muslims and to be grateful to be with our love ones.




Morgenmad: Puri, halwa i midten, khageena (krydret røræg) øverst hjørne. Chana masalah nederst hjørne og aloo bujia ( krydret kartoffle ret). Halwa lavet af min søster, resten lavet af mig. Jeg vender tilbage med opskrifter en anden dag.
Eid breakfast: puri, halwa in the middle, khageena ( a sort of spicy scrammbled eggs) top corner, Chana masalah lower corner and aloo bujia ( spicesed potato dish). My sister made halwa and I made rest.


Til aftenmads buffet var der lam korma, saffron naan, biryani, tandoori kylling, og kebab. Til dessert pakistansk risengrød, rest halwa og disse Rainbow cake pushpop som var min datter og min fælles projekt. De var ikke helt vellykket for creamen var blevet for blød og flød ud mellem lagene men de smagte super godt og var en sjov indslag. Jeg lover at jeg vil fortælle jer mere om disse kage pushpops, men en anden dag. Til kagen  brugte vi Martha Stewarts rainbow cake opskrift. Link for neden.
For dinner buffet, there was lamb korma, saffron naan, biryani, tandoori chciken and kebabs. For dessert there was my mothers rice pudding, halwa leftovers and these Rainbow cake pushpops, made my daughter and me. They didnt looks so beautiful as they were spouced to because of the too soft cream, but they were delicious and a fun idea. I promise I will show you more about these cake pushpops, but later.
